Lucy and the Lessons

It was a dream to have you when I retire

Not from life but from work; the one we do to learn and earn!

But you found me before and that was my lesson-1

Perhaps good things in life should not be delayed

‘Coz while we are postponing life speeds by!

For me life is ‘divine’; not to be sold or bought

But the era we belong to has to fulfill a cost

And I cognize the fact that it’s not just money, but an honor that was due

To which I pay my regard as an obligation that you weren’t factory bred

You were born at home, to a family that loved yours

And meditated for your safe birth

Thus my lesson-2

You took my breath away, as I held you for the first time

All apprehensions melted with that breath

The firm grip I held you with gave birth to the positive affirmation in me

‘I can do it. And I’ll do it beautifully!’

The Lesson-3 popped out.

Your natural hue, the furry you

Those dark piercing eyes can hide no lies

That black wet nose, your yelp behind closed doors

The paws that muddy my home,

The worn-out me yet you say you want it more!

That is Lesson-4

Keep teaching me as I brace myself

I love you but I know you do it more!

स्वर्गीय नानाजी🙏🏻

Never got to see you
Never did we meet,
Yet I see you often
In the entire family!

The little ones you left
And the ones in their youth;
Have lived their lives well
To tell you the truth.

Life challenges are a part
When the family falls apart.
Your foundation was so strong
All are loyal at heart!

The Tempest at sea!
Oh! How we hope we never see!
The rower was 'One'
The  'top gun'!
She beautified your 'rainbow'
Gave it all she had
Ask any of your grandchildren,
They would have never seen her sad!

Such was the resilience
She was in essence, your true partner, the only caretaker.
Hope you both would have met again
For a more fulfilling life together!
And we keep receiving your blessings
Forever and ever!

Siddharth : We Miss You!

Our childhood!!

Filled with harmless mischiefs

The running Up (ऊपर वाला घर) and Down(नीचे वाला)

As is the famous dialect of Dehradun

Those Hides and Seeks

But you hid completely today! And we're unable to Seek you this time!

Your heart filled with Love for everyone around you

Those Big Hugs whenever you greeted anyone,

That innocent smile!

That firm wrist in all the Rakshabandhans!

Dadiji की डांट and ताई जी का लाड़

 ताऊजी की ऊंची आवाज़ and हम सबका डर के छत पर भागना

We know you remember it all.

You always will.

For when the Souls meet and part, there is an inevitable Supreme Will!

We will miss you भाई forever!

38 is a vibrant age, not one in which the heart should collapse!

May you achieve peace!

Because your name says it all

सिद्धार्थ - Siddhārtha : सिद्ध + अर्थ

"The one who has accomplished an aim or purpose”

And we called you किंशू - another name for 'श्री भगवान कृष्ण'

अपनी मुरली अनोखी ही थी तुम्हारी , हमेशा!

ॐ शांति!🙏🏻😇🌷

'Mausaji' - An Ode to my father figure!

Crisp, White shirts

Dandy, Curly hair

Sparkling, winsome eyes
A firm, bold voice
which would address me as 'अरे भई' lovingly even as I aged 35 !

A persona unmatchable,
Spanning a career most glorious,
A being most remarkable!

'My Mausaji', whom I grew up regarding just like my father
And God chose to send me on Earth years ahead on the same birth date; a coincidence indeed!
Dignified as a fighter until his last breath 🙏🏻
The opponent; a super micro organism- the virus that needs no description.
But I will remember him always
for how he lived, rather than how he left us!

For that would be a true Ode to a dear departed Soul to whom I may be answerable in another birth!

ॐ शांति!🙏🏻🌷

How I got 'The Rudraksha'!

                         त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम्

                        उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान् मृत्योर्मुक्षीय मामृतात्

With the ‘Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra’ playing in the background, my thoughts travel back in time to my recent visit to the ‘Tapovan Temple’ in Dehradun. The temple is built amid the forests with the combination of the 12 jyotirlinga symbolically represented in the main shivalinga

Silence prevails in the place with very few devotees visiting on a daily basis. The oldest residing sage is the centenarian whom everyone fondly calls ‘Mai’ ; another name for a mother.

Google tells me about the ancient history of the modern town Dehradun; which was earlier called ‘The Dronanagari’. Dronacharya, the great teacher of the Kauravas and Pandavas from the epic Mahabharata lived here. And now I ponder, could that be one of the reasons the town is blessed with renowned schools for ages, some more than a century old!

I entered the temple, mesmerised by the tranquility that engulfed me. There were some resident devotees who took care of the place. Probing one of them to help us understand the place, we saw small areas where the enlightened ones had taken ‘samadhi’. We were told and I quote: “🙏🏻उनका शरीर यहां पूरा हॊ गया🙏🏻” which signified their firm belief that the mortal phase of their life was over and they united with the divine. There was something about this whole place which set a high vibration where nothing could make one feel low. Legend goes that it was in these forest that 'Guru Dronacharya' taught the Pandavas and the Kauravas!

As my eyes met ‘The Mai’, both of us paused for a few seconds.

What was it? I couldn’t tell or understand but there definitely seemed some connect!

I sat with my family and had a cup of tea(most welcome in the Dun winters of January) with the people there, soaking in the serenity of the place.

And then suddenly the Mai got up(crouching at 90degrees yet completely composed and balanced), went to her room and came back with this bag full of 'Rudraksha' that she gifted me blessing me and wishing me well!

I was awestruck!

Karma, I reckon!
