Love, Life and Music

Love, Life & Music; none goes without the other.

Love bewitched me in myriad ways,
Life gracefully unveils itself every day,
Music has been eternal !

Let’s talk about the latter as it unfolded in my mind’s eye conspicuously in the past several days. That eureka moment! At the onset of a lesson that you so deeply wished to learn all your life, the ‘Guru’ brings down your attention to the most trivial and regular phenomenon one witnesses in daily life.

Sound or vibration, how do you define it?

That which is or that which is not or that which is perpetual?

सा रे ग म प ध नि

(Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Nee)

Sa- Shadaja : The sound of the peacock when rain clouds gathered in the sky.

Re- Rishabha : The bellowing of a cow when her calf is separated from her.

Ga- Gandhara : The bleating of a goat in a flock.

Ma- Madhyama : The cry of a heron.

Pa: Panchama : The sound of the Indian nightingale in spring.

Dha- Dhaivat : The neighing of a horse.

Ni- Nishada : The trumpeting of an elephant.

Nature has created it all!

All the other स्वर except षाडजा (Sa) and पंचम (Pa) can be कोमल or तीव्र स्वर but Sa and Pa are always शुद्ध स्वर .

And hence, स्वर Sa and Pa are called अचल स्वर, since these स्वर don’t move from their original position.

That sends a shiver down my spine. Isn’t that how we practice पुरुषार्थ on our spiritual journey? To remain अचल in our मन. When the outside situations, also called परिस्थिति don’t disturb our स्थितप्रज्ञा. There definitely seems to be a divine energy in music which correlates very well to the spiritual साधना. Am yet to experience it fully.

The स्वर  Re, Ga, Ma, Dha, Ni are called Chal स्वर, since these स्वर move from their original position. Probably indicating ‘change is inevitable’.

Some research brought me to this:

Hypothetically speaking, नि is said to be निराकार ब्रह्मा. So, the legend goes that the three main Gods- Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva were first created i.e. साकार ब्रह्मा (Sa) and then these three Gods created ऋषि-मुनि i.e. (Re) and then गंधर्व (Ga) were created for singing and then Lord Indra i.e. महिपाल (Ma) was created and once the Mahipal (Raja) or the king was created, the प्रजा (Pa) or the common citizens were made. And as people have their own धर्मा (Dha) or duty, the religion was made. When religion was made the निराकार (Ni) form of धर्मा is formed. That is to say धर्मा created the निराकार form of ब्रह्मा.

So, starting from the साकार(Sa) ब्रह्मा, called षाडजा ( षाड -6 + जा- जन्म) which collectively means giving birth to the other 6 notes of the music it ends with the निराकार (Ni) ब्रह्मा! Now, that indeed is ‘Divine’!

Lo, what I found more was 'where our 7 chakras meet the 7 swaras'

The physical body is ensheathed by the auric field in which seven major chakras (invisible to the naked eye) are present.

The Cosmos and the Earth are where we derive the energy. According to the study (in reference),  our body has seven chakra zones, and each swara resonates with one major chakra. Each swara with the exact frequency of MHz (shruti) for each chakra zone. That is the mantra for each Chakra. The basis of sound healing and therapy lies in the symbiosis of both.

Starting from the स्वर Sa deriving energy from the earth into the मूूलाधार चक्र, slowly the energy moved away from the earth into the energy of the Cosmos; through the spinal chord. Re स्वर moves into the back of the स्वादिष्ठाान chakra, then onto Ga that is the rear of the मणिपुर chakra, Ma back of the अनाहत चक्र (heart); Pa back of the विशुद्ध चक्र; Dha back of the आज्ञा चक्र; Ni सहस्त्राा or the Crown Chakra and finally the next scale Sa that is the epitome of the energy of the Cosmos. After that chakra the human body ends and the eternal cosmic energy frontier starts. When sung in avaroha (descending) back to the muladhara chakra one by one slowly making a continuous energy garland back and forth.

Magic truly exists

One just needs to discover it!

The Pen is mightier than the sword, indeed! But in what way?

3:30am as I sat down for the Amritvela/ब्रह्ममुहूर्त meditation this morning,  I lit the दीपक, kept the glass of hot water next to me, plugged into a guided meditation and was set to write my positive affirmations which I do every day. The ambience was irresistible post the महाशिवरात्रि and I was all geared up for a deep, meaningful साधना. When I picked up my diary and fumbled for the pen which I usually put on my bedside, I couldn't find it. I tried again, but in vain.

This can't be! I was sure of it. "It was just at bedtime last night, I had refilled my fountain pen, didn't I? Yes, that  maroon coloured one which I use daily during this time and almost always when I write. It had to be here. It just had to be."

Observe the volley of thoughts. Imagine the count. "Wasn't this favourite time of my day meant for a better experience; and all that engrossed my attention was a pen? But, then where was it? No one touches my things to do or undo what I do. Every thing that I need is carefully kept away from Lucy's (my pet's) reach.  Almost always. May be not this time! Did she manage to smuggle one in the dark. After all, its just my दीपक and the bedside lamp illuminating the home at this hour. Oh! Dear that can't be. I don't find it anywhere. Let me just sit and meditate. I'll write the affirmations later during the day."

I gathered my thoughts again and concentrated. 4:00am it already was. As I refocused my mind and connected it with the Supreme, I felt lighter. Post my conversation with Him, I made up my mind to use another pen and write. And write I did, all lost in the Amritvela. All surrendered to the Supreme, all happy and meditative.

Post my drill, I got up to begin my day. As I folded the sheets and the blankets, the pen lay there peeping and mocking at me. I kissed it and cherished holding it. After all, it was 'the fountain pen', the one I adore, the one that glides my thoughts like a proficient skier on the snow white pages. "Oh! How much I love you! Oh! Thank God you were right here, sweetie. I knew I kept you safely last night. I always do!"

And then in a flash of a second, it all occurred to me. This was it!
This was exactly what I was meant to learn today. Who else could teach it to me in a more practical way than the God, the Father himself!
Do you get it?
What good is all this spirituality, all this ज्ञान, all this meditation, all this constant reminder of detachment to everything; if a pen proves mightier than a sword and drives me headless!
And I hit the Eureka moment again.
My pen,my dress, my favourite book, my side of the bed, my blanket, my favourite coffee mug, my favourite song, my phone, my earplugs, my seat at the dining table. Oh, dear! Am attached to endless hooks!
Time to move on, time to grow. And time to post it on the blog now(12 hours ahead of the experience).
Time to detach!
I know I'll do it and I'll do it very well!
Cheers!!

January, The Fifth

January the V. 2001 was the year
A cold frosty morning, an unkown beginning!
I was intrigued when I saw you had no fear
To play your Karma and to face its consequence
It was presented with utmost 'Grace'!

The divine, four-letter word had touched you for me;
That you made crystal clear!
And I wondered;
"Do we even know each other?"

Unequivocally you; The Soul was more receptive to the Supreme's light✨
Which guided you and in turn me
And thus we endured with all our might!

The beautiful life with its ups and downs
Our shimmering smiles that melt our frowns
And miles to go before we sleep
We know this bond is spiritually deep!

Happy to you and happy to me
So it be!

Lucy and the Lessons

It was a dream to have you when I retire

Not from life but from work; the one we do to learn and earn!

But you found me before and that was my lesson-1

Perhaps good things in life should not be delayed

‘Coz while we are postponing life speeds by!

For me life is ‘divine’; not to be sold or bought

But the era we belong to has to fulfill a cost

And I cognize the fact that it’s not just money, but an honor that was due

To which I pay my regard as an obligation that you weren’t factory bred

You were born at home, to a family that loved yours

And meditated for your safe birth

Thus my lesson-2

You took my breath away, as I held you for the first time

All apprehensions melted with that breath

The firm grip I held you with gave birth to the positive affirmation in me

‘I can do it. And I’ll do it beautifully!’

The Lesson-3 popped out.

Your natural hue, the furry you

Those dark piercing eyes can hide no lies

That black wet nose, your yelp behind closed doors

The paws that muddy my home,

The worn-out me yet you say you want it more!

That is Lesson-4

Keep teaching me as I brace myself

I love you but I know you do it more!

स्वर्गीय नानाजी🙏🏻

Never got to see you
Never did we meet,
Yet I see you often
In the entire family!

The little ones you left
And the ones in their youth;
Have lived their lives well
To tell you the truth.

Life challenges are a part
When the family falls apart.
Your foundation was so strong
All are loyal at heart!

The Tempest at sea!
Oh! How we hope we never see!
The rower was 'One'
The  'top gun'!
She beautified your 'rainbow'
Gave it all she had
Ask any of your grandchildren,
They would have never seen her sad!

Such was the resilience
She was in essence, your true partner, the only caretaker.
Hope you both would have met again
For a more fulfilling life together!
And we keep receiving your blessings
Forever and ever!

Siddharth : We Miss You!

Our childhood!!

Filled with harmless mischiefs

The running Up (ऊपर वाला घर) and Down(नीचे वाला)

As is the famous dialect of Dehradun

Those Hides and Seeks

But you hid completely today! And we're unable to Seek you this time!

Your heart filled with Love for everyone around you

Those Big Hugs whenever you greeted anyone,

That innocent smile!

That firm wrist in all the Rakshabandhans!

Dadiji की डांट and ताई जी का लाड़

 ताऊजी की ऊंची आवाज़ and हम सबका डर के छत पर भागना

We know you remember it all.

You always will.

For when the Souls meet and part, there is an inevitable Supreme Will!

We will miss you भाई forever!

38 is a vibrant age, not one in which the heart should collapse!

May you achieve peace!

Because your name says it all

सिद्धार्थ - Siddhārtha : सिद्ध + अर्थ

"The one who has accomplished an aim or purpose”

And we called you किंशू - another name for 'श्री भगवान कृष्ण'

अपनी मुरली अनोखी ही थी तुम्हारी , हमेशा!

ॐ शांति!🙏🏻😇🌷

'Mausaji' - An Ode to my father figure!

Crisp, White shirts

Dandy, Curly hair

Sparkling, winsome eyes
A firm, bold voice
which would address me as 'अरे भई' lovingly even as I aged 35 !

A persona unmatchable,
Spanning a career most glorious,
A being most remarkable!

'My Mausaji', whom I grew up regarding just like my father
And God chose to send me on Earth years ahead on the same birth date; a coincidence indeed!
Dignified as a fighter until his last breath 🙏🏻
The opponent; a super micro organism- the virus that needs no description.
But I will remember him always
for how he lived, rather than how he left us!

For that would be a true Ode to a dear departed Soul to whom I may be answerable in another birth!

ॐ शांति!🙏🏻🌷

#Respect
